Album Debuts on Myspace

Add Kanye West to the list of artists previewing their new CDs on MySpace Music.

The 31-year-old rapper's "808s & Heartbreak" doesn't come out until Monday, but fans can hear the entire CD starting at 3 a.m. Saturday EST. In short about his new album preview: More Drums (each song has the 808 drum pattern in it), More Singing, 'No Typical Hip-Hop Beats'. The oh so popular Auto-Tune also put its mark on each song.

West is the latest act to debut a CD on MySpace before its official release. Guns 'N Roses*, Paul McCartney and Beyonce have all done the same. The Killers will do so on Saturday with their CD, "Day & Age."

(*The last time Guns N' Roses released an album of all-new material, there were no iPods or digital downloads. There was no "American Idol." No music blogs. No MySpace.)

It has become a regular practice to offer some kind of live stream of new CDs in the days before their release on one Web site.
