We were supposed to be in Canada already… 3 days ago! But a couple of days before our scheduled departure time, my daughter and I caught a mysterious weight-loss virus that keeps us glued to the bathroom. And I have bronchitis on top of that. Imagine coughing when … well, you get the picture. The doctor said this particular virus was widespread in the area and there was nothing to do except maybe eat green bananas, rice and crackers and drink plenty of water. Just eating was not an attractive option for us, so green bananas? I’ll pass, thank you very much. Everybody had to change their plans. Phone calls back and forth kept us from crying too much. We really wanted to be there. Ah. but the porcelain throne beckons. Now we leave on Christmas morning. Unfortunately, Christmas is not waiting for us. I guess it would disrupt too many other plans. We will celebrate Christmas on the 30th. That’s alright, we can shop without too much of a crowd for last minute gifts, maybe find a few after-Christmas sales. The children will have another Christmas with presents. I’ll get to see my son and grandchildren, my mom and some friends. Chistmas is just another day after all. How about that?
